METRO/TRAIN

Public transport to the Hungaroring usually takes between 60 to 90 minutes, depending mostly on where you’re staying in Budapest. The journey starts with the red metro line (M2), which you take to the final stop at Örs vezér tere. If you’re on another metro line, such as M1 or M3, simply change at Deák Ferenc tér to catch an eastbound M2 train to Örs vezér tere.

Once you arrive at Örs vezér tere, leave the metro station and cross to the opposite corner of the intersection using the underpass. There, you’ll find the HÉV suburban train stop, next to a ticket office and a large shopping centre, a good place to grab water and snacks. Trains from this stop go only in one direction, towards Gödöllő, Kerepes, or Mogyoród.

Stay on the HÉV train until you reach Kerepes station, where you can board a free shuttle bus that takes you directly to Gate 3 at the Hungaroring. These shuttle buses run at regular intervals, and they’re timed to match the train schedule. The H8 HÉV line gets especially busy during the Grand Prix weekend, with trains running every 10 to 15 minutes and offering extra capacity for fans.

If you prefer to walk, you can get off the train at Szilasliget or Mogyoród stations instead. Both are about a 25 to 30-minute walk from the circuit gates, and this can help you avoid waiting for the shuttle buses after the race.

After the race, free shuttle buses leave from near Gate 3 and take you to Gödöllő Railway Station. From there, modern double-decker KISS trains run every 15 minutes to Budapest’s main station, Keleti pályaudvar.
